Schatz: House Republicans Just Advanced Bill That Would Gut Investments In Clean Energy, Give Tax Cuts To Billionaires At The Expense Of Everyone Else

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i) today released the following statement after Republicans in the House Ways and Means Committee passed legislation as part of President Donald Trump’s economic agenda that would roll back clean energy investments and raise energy costs for people across the country.

“Republicans just passed a bill that would gut investments in clean energy and give tax cuts to billionaires at the expense of everyone else. Trump promised the American people that he would cut energy costs in half, but instead, Republicans are moving forward with a bill that would raise energy costs as demand soars. This bill would throw out any semblance of business certainty for project developers, putting at risk billions of dollars in investment, thousands of good jobs in clean energy manufacturing, and our ability to compete with China in the fastest-growing sources of energy.”
