WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i) today launched a new guide to help Hawai‘i residents who may be impacted by the Republican tax law. The new webpage will include information and resources to help people navigate major changes to health care, food assistance, education programs, and tax policies.

“The new Republican Tax Law cuts critical federal funding that will make it harder for people to access health care, food assistance, and other critical services,” said Senator Schatz. “While we are working every day to blunt the impact of these cuts to our state, everyone should know what’s coming, how to prepare, and where to find help. I encourage everyone to explore this guide and find resources that may be helpful to you.”

Schatz’s guide includes resources for Med-QUEST and SNAP beneficiaries, and helpful information on changes to education and tax policy. The webpage also includes key dates of major changes and will be regularly be updated as new information becomes available.

The Republican tax law that will cut health care coverage through Med-QUEST for more than 40,000 people in Hawai‘i, gut food assistance programs that more than 20,000 Hawai‘i families rely on, and raise the national debt by $3.3 trillion.
