U.S. Senator Brian Schatz of Hawai‘i is hiring a shared communications staff member for his personal office and the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, Office of the Vice Chairman. This position has a broad range of duties, and it provides an opportunity to join a rewarding work environment with a team of committed, experienced professionals.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Writing and editing press releases,
- Drafting remarks and video messages; and
- Developing and overseeing digital communications strategies.
Experience working for/with Tribal and Native communities preferred; Indian Country, Hawai‘i ties a plus.
Experience and Skills

- strong writing skills;
- political communications, social media, or digital background;
- ability to handle multiple projects at once; and
- work well as part of a team;
- exercise sound judgment; and

Location
The position is based in the senator’s Washington, DC, office.
Start Date
The starting salary for this position is commensurate with experience.
