The Office of U.S. Senator Brian Schatz seeks a Press and Digital Assistant to join an active communications team. Applicants must have strong writing skills, professional social media and digital experience (graphic design, photo and video editing, etc.), and should be able to handle multiple projects at once. Previous experience on the Hill is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented team player who is highly motivated and eager to learn.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include producing high-quality digital media content, editing photos and videos, drafting written copy, including video scripts and quotes, managing press mentions and news clips, and other tasks as assigned. The ideal candidate will have either prior experience working in a communications or digital role.
Experience and Skills
Applicants must:
- have strong writing, digital communications, analytical, research, and organizational skills;
- have experience in graphic design, photo and video editing;
- have a strong work ethic;
- exercise sound judgment;
- work well as part of a team; exercise sound judgment; and operate well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment;
- have advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs like Photoshop, Premiere, and Illustrator.
Preference will be given to applicants who have familiarity with Hawai‘i from time spent as a current/former resident or through significant professional or educational experience in the state.
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position starts at $55,000.
