Schatz Statement On Passing Of Marilyn Bornhorst
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i) released the following statement on the passing of former Honolulu City Council member Marilyn Bornhorst.
“Marilyn was a trailblazer, an independent advocate for communities and the environment, and she was a mentor to me. She is the reason that I joined the Democratic Party, and ran for the legislature in Makiki, Tantalus, and Manoa. She made history as the first female chair of the Honolulu City Council and by passing laws, but her legacy lives on through her personal kindness, her family, and the people who she drew into public service. May her memory be a blessing, and may she rest in peace.”
